School supplies for Iraq

Thanks to all the students, parents, family and friends of Rising City who donated money and supplies for our Iraqi school supply project. We collected fifteen boxes of pens, pencils, paper, notebooks, markers, colored pencils, glue, rulers, crayons and backpacks.

The Rising City kindergarten class used the supplies as an opportunity to count and determine the best packing plan. The kindergarten class took the boxes down to the post office in a little red wagon courtesy of cook Sherri Roberts. Thank you Sherri!

There were too many boxes for the wagon so the students had to carry the rest by hand. It took a while but they eventually made it to the post office. The packages were sent out to be distributed by the US Marines in Anbar province of Iraq. The province saw eighteen new schools opened on October 1. The students in Iraq will be very excited to get all the wonderful supplies to help them with their education.

The help by the citizens of Rising City on this project was very much appreciated. Again, many heartfelt thanks for all the generous donations.
